Milestones on the path to sustainability

The commitment for sustainability is documented not only in prizes and awards, but also the great trust HiPP enjoys from consumers. For HiPP, this means high recognition and motivation for new targets.

First place in image ranking in the WirtschaftsWoche

25.05.2013
Consumers (8,400 survey participants) once again voted HiPP as the most sustainable company in Germany in 2013.

We are very grateful for the trust placed in us. The consumer vote also acts as motivation for HiPP to keep up its efforts to continue to guarantee the reliability and high quality of its organic products. Already in 2011 and 2012, HiPP was voted the most sustainable company in Germany in representative consumer surveys for the WirtschaftsWoche magazine.

Once again, in this image ranking in the WirtschaftsWoche in 2013, HiPP was chosen from 103 businesses from 17 sectors as clear winner. Second and third places went to household appliance manufacturer Miele and the drugstore chain dm. The last three places went to McDonald’s, and the clothing groups H&M and KIK. Overall, the study showed that consumers value commitment to the environment and social sectors just as much as the product itself.

22.11.2012
FAUN Responsibility and Sustainability Category awarded by the Deutsche Standards EDITIONEN publishers and Ernst & Young

In cooperation with the Deutsche Standards EDITIONEN publishers, the auditing company Ernst & Young awarded the FAUN for the first time in 2012, a prize especially for German family-run companies. The prize is awarded for excellent brand management in three categories: 1. Tradition and Solidity, 2. Responsibility & Sustainability, 3. Innovation. It applies across all sectors and includes the areas of consumer, services and industry. FAUN – an acronym made from the German word meaning ‘family business’ – was designed by Olaf Salié, Managing Director of Deutsche Standards EDITIONEN, and designer Daniel Bergs. It represents a tree and symbolises roots, growth, renewal and solidarity – to the family and the brand name. Stefan Hipp accepted the prize in the category “Responsibility & Sustainability”.

German Solar Prize

05.11.2011
On 5th November, EUROSOLAR, the European Association for Renewable Energy, honoured the Pfaffenhofen baby food manufacturer HiPP with the German Solar Prize 2011.

For HiPP, the Solar Prize confirms the company’s philosophy which has been practiced for many decades. The “ecologically-friendly manufacture of baby food” runs like a golden thread through the history of the company. HiPP is not only a pioneer in organic farming, it also already introduced EMAS- certified environmental management in 1995, and was the first food producer in Europe to do so. Through consistent and sustainable implementation, the company is continually saving energy and resources and, in Germany, now manufactures CO2-neutrally –despite doubling production. As climate change is closely associated with animals and plants becoming extinct, HiPP is also active in supporting the preservation of biodiversity.

Recognition for Bavarian Environmental Pact

27.09.2011
Recognition for long-term commitment in cooperative environmental protection through the Bavarian Environmental Pact

HiPP was one of the companies that signed the Bavarian Environmental Pact for “Protecting the Environment Together” when it was founded on 23rd October 1995. As a pioneer company, HiPP was presented with an award for its long-standing and exemplary commitment by Minister of State Söder during a ceremony in the Residenzkirche in Munich, together with the other founding companies. “The goal of the Environmental Pact is to strengthen and further develop the commitment of Bavarian companies to the field of environmental protection, based on personal responsibility and voluntary action. The members of this Environmental Pact offer a strong example in contributing to a Bavaria that is a sustainable, environmentally-friendly living space“, says Söder. During the ceremony, the Minister of State presented an award to 120 Upper-Bavarian companies that were among the first members of this Environmental Pact.

Munich – On 6th April, the German aid organisation “Human Plus e.V.” commended the children’s food producer Claus Hipp with the “Econosophen”.

This prize is awarded every year by the international charity organisation to individuals and businesses that show great social responsibility and outstanding achievements. Human Plus e.V. is a recognised charity for humanitarian aid, whose activities have contributed to alleviating poverty and suffering in many countries around the world since 1998.

With Claus Hipp’s support for needy children in Haiti and Pakistan, the traditional entrepreneur proved that helping people is not just a job for him, it is a calling. This was the reason given by the aid organisation for awarding of the prize.

Environmental protection prize “Golden Flower of Rheydt”

13.09.2009
This year’s prize winner, Claus Hipp, was already a pioneer in baby food production from strictly organic farming 30 years ago and, at that time, was already “thinking a courageous step ahead”, Lord Mayor Norbert Bude praised the honorary guest.

Claus Hipp stands not only for organic farming with his name, added the President of the Board of Trustees for the awarding ceremony of the Golden Flower, Dr. Gottfried Arnold, in his laudatory speech. “In the past years, he has reduced the CO2 emissions in his company by more than 90% and most of the energy comes from renewable resources. Water consumption sunk by about 40% per ton produced. Thanks to Claus Hipp, society has become ‘more ecological, more humane, more thoughtful’”, said the speaker.
