Sustainable protection of environment and climate

Through the consistent use of renewable energies, HiPP has been able to reduce CO₂ emissions by roughly 90% in the last 14 years. Compared to the year 2000, approximately 14,000 tonnes of CO₂ less have been produced in 2014. In order to bind this amount of CO₂, a forest of the size of roughly 5,000 football pitches would be needed.

We use less packaging materials. Thinner film coating and lighter HiPP jars achieve significant savings. Every packaging must be more ecologically beneficial than its predecessor.

Since 2001, we have obtained our heating from the biomass cogeneration plant in Pfaffenhofen.

That and extensive thermal insulation on the buildings saves 8,344 tonnes of CO₂ a year.

100% of our electricity is produced by hydroelectric power, saving 3,978 tonnes of CO₂ per year.

We are absolutely against electricity generated by nuclear power.

Water consumption per tonne of production has been reduced by about 70% from 22.8 m³ (1971) to 8.5 m³ (2014).

We consistently use resource-saving recycled paper in our offices, advertising material and packaging. 97% of our waste is recycled.

The reduction in weight of packaging by 5,300 tonnes per year means 265 fewer lorry loads. Fewer resources are used and fewer emissions released.

HiPP offers its employees the incentive of changing to environmentally-friendly transport. Whoever comes to work by public transport or bicycle gets the costs or kilometre allowance back. In addition, we regularly offer programmes to save petrol.
